Tim Hecker

10.07.2009

I’ve already posted Hecker’s An Imaginary Country, which is one of the best pieces of music to come out this year, but I figured it’s right time to just go over his entire discography. Tim Hecker is a composer/producer from Montreal who creates vast, gorgeous sculptures of ambient sound out of shards of electronics, synths, effected guitar, and found sounds. throughout the decade he’s honed his craft to a near-transcendent level. i really don’t want to say too much because i don’t want to ruin any impressions, and it’s hard for me to do anything except gush, so just take a listen. I suggest starting with either An Imaginary Country or Harmony In Ultraviolet and working backwards. this man is one of the first true pioneers of 21st century music. click ‘read more’ for the list…
