Emeralds – Fresh Air 7″

fresh air

there’s only about 9 minutes of music on this little nugget of bliss, but Emeralds use it up wisely. steve hauschildt and john elliot’s synths take center stage here, and they’ve never sounded this enraptured with the world. tones soar high and cascade back down on side A, while side B hesitantly swells and gurgles throughout its near 5 minute run time. emeralds latest LP stood out for it’s deft use of melody, hooking the listener without betraying emeralds’ amorphous nature with too much structure. this single is no different, and offers a great snapshot of these ever-evolving and ever-intriguing artists at work.
