halves – haunt me when i’m drowsy (2008)

this EP from ireland’s Halves is one of the most promising things i’ve heard all year. if i had to label this as anything, i’d call it ‘dream rock’. it’s got the reverb-soaked guitars, grandiose string arrangements, and rising climaxes of a post-rock record combined with calm falsetto vocals and a dash of stuttering electronics here and there. Halves are great at developing a warm and comforting, yet expansive atmosphere, and i can’t wait to hear more from them.
